Since its release in 2009 the Winter Village theme released some of the most amazing sets LEGO has to offer. Today we are gonna rank them all. As always we will start from the last one and work out way to the ultimate set at number 1. So let’s get started!
Number 16

At number 16 we have the second newest winter village set, the Santa’s post office. First of as you guys might know I am not the biggest fan of Fantasy based winter village set like Santa of Elf based but this is way, way worse. Let’s start with the Elephant in the room. The ramps. Yeah, literally they added a play feature in the interior that destroys the whole look. And don’t get me started on the light brick in the air balloon. It seems like something with no value to bump up the price.
Number 15

You might think that the 2014’s Santa’s Workshop is a way worse set. At leats this set has a good interior and a decent architecture with some basic SNOT techniques. I know the second building literally doesn’t have a roof and the set focuses more on accessories than the main building but at least it doesn’t feel like this much of a waste.
Number 14

At number 14 I decided to put the gingerbread house. It has a great interior and it is a great display piece by inself and the fireplace is the second best executed out of these sets. The big problem is that it looks so out of place in a Winter Village display.
Number 13

This set could have been perfect. The Elf Club House is a good looking set but the proportions are kinda weird and the interior is not as detailed. The play features are good but the arhitecture is kinda bad and the accessories are somewhat simple. Not a bad set but also not a good one.
Number 12

At number 12 we have the perfect balance of fantasy based characters and a good looking build. The Santa’s visit set is a great looking set with a great feature. Santa can slide down the fireplace! This is supposed to be a remake of 2012’s Winter Village Cottage but that set is still better. I like the dark blue accent and light up Christmas tree.
Number 11

This set is great but it could be better. I thought the 2013’s Winter Village Market will land on a much better spot. It is a great set. If functions where the main category the spinning carousel will be number 1 but the fact that is just small builds makes it feel disconnected. These are just smaller builds with less details and overall worse value for your money. Not a bad set though.
Number 10

This set needs a remake. The Winter Village Bakery was released in 2009 as the second Winter Village set ever and it still stands out. The interior is decent but the architecture and the overall design could benefit by new pieces and building techniques. I love the ideea with the figure stuck in ice. A really great set for it’s time.
Number 9

This might be the most fun I had with a Winter Village set! I still remember building the Holiday Main Street set two years ago. It was such a great building experience. I love this set. The tram is great—might be the best vehicle in this subtheme. It’s even better if you motorize it. The buildings have very detailed interiors, and the exterior is also great. The side builds are great too, but the Christmas tree is kinda bulky.
Number 8

At number 8, we have the Winter Village Post Office. Similarly to the Bakery, it would also need a remake, but it still has a great design even by today’s standards. I love the dark green roofs. I love the gazebo build so much—it is great. If they used something better than fire elements here and maybe used the light brick for the fireplace, it would be perfect.
Number 7

This set brought me a ton of fun! 2023’s Alpine Lodge is a solid set and might have the third best building experience I ever had for this theme, very close to Main Street and the Cottage. The light brick that lights up two fireplaces at once is a great feat of engineering, and the interior is solid. The wood-effect design with these bow pieces is genius too.
Number 6

At number 6 is my first Winter Village set. I got into this theme in 2018, and the Winter Village Fire Station was my first set. The exterior gives Christmas vibes. The side builds are some of the best in the series, and the interior, while being simple, might be the best one out of the sets we covered until now. Also, this might have the best Christmas tree design.
Number 5

The newest Winter Village set takes number 5. I still haven’t bought it, but it looks so solid. The play features are solid, but it still doesn’t beat the 2016 version. The color choice isn’t perfect, but it’s a solid set. A perfect build for this year’s holiday season.
Number 4

At number 4, we have the Winter Village Toy Shop. I included the 2009 as well as the 2015 version, as they deserve the same spot on this list. This set captures the Christmas vibe perfectly. The interior and the main build are stunning. The side builds are okay. I love the bench build, but the Christmas tree feels weird, and I heard that it is hard to build.
Number 3

At number 3 is an almost perfect set. The Winter Village Station has a perfect interior with great details. My favorite has to be the tree up there, and the side builds are okay but not perfect. This set only works with the Winter Holiday Train set from the previous year, so without that set you can’t use this set to its full potential. Also, a fun thing is that this is the last Winter Village set to use the big pine tree element, which was retired in 2018.
Number 2

At number 2, we have the Winter Holiday Train. This set is just perfect—from the color scheme to the amazing design and great festive decorations. The only downside is that the piece count is kinda low, at 713 pieces.
